THE PROJECT
The Residents of Aldeia de Juso, who decided to choose this peaceful village to
live, thanks to the quiet, tranquility, security and location, which generated
good quality of life and good neighbourly relations, reject the Alcatel
urbanization project approved by the Cascais Town Hall (CMC), on 20.11.2020,
through Alvará 943. This is a project that contemplates the construction of two
large commercial areas, oriented to Rua D. Dácia Estanislau, two large office
buildings, facing Estrada da Malveira and 60 houses, facing the final section of
the A5. The monstrosity of this project is reflected in the brutal impact on
traffic within Aldeia de Juso, on the Estrada Malveira da Serra and in the
intolerable production of air pollution and noise. The quality of life of the
residents of Aldeia de Juso is seriously compromised. We can even consider
that there are damages in terms of human rights. For this reason, we
unequivocally reject this project, which we were unaware of, because the
population was never made aware of it, nor of any public hearing process,
because if this had happened, opposition to the project would have been
immediately unanimously and overwhelmingly evidenced.
When we affirm our complete opposition/rejection to the project, it means
that we will go as far as necessary to make this urban monstrosity unfeasible,
where the winners will be the real estate speculators and the losers will be the
entire population of Aldeia de Juso. Without forgetting that other populations
in the surrounding areas such as Birre, Murches, Charneca, Malveira,
Zambujeiro and Janes will also be affected as a result of the significant increase
in traffic on Estrada da Malveira. The location of a project of this size is not
sustainable. The lack of infrastructures amplifies the impacts on Aldeia de
Juso and surrounding populations. Aldeia de Juso has been forgotten for the
last 30 years, since the arrival of the A5 and, as such, can no longer accept this
burden for its residents. With the commitment of all residents, it will be
possible to stop this monstrous project, highly damaging to our rights.
